The Leon Works Expo is a unique one-day event bringing together high-school students and the community with skilled employers, educators, and providers of vocational training all under one roof. The Expo highlights the growing opportunities for those in skilled careers, which are jobs requiring more than a high school diploma but less than a four-year college degree.
Over 27,000 new skilled careers with a median wage of $17.09/hr. will be available in the Leon County region by the year 2023. To address this need, Leon County Government and community partners launched the first Leon Works Expo in fall 2015. By promoting these skilled careers, communities retain workforce talent and support sustainable business expansions.
The 2016 Leon Works Expo will be held on October 21st at Lively Technical Center and will include free professional headshots, mock interviews, professionalism workshops, as well as exhibitor and demonstration areas. In the morning, the Expo will be open to students. Later in the day, the Expo will be open to everyone in the community who may be seeking a career change, new opportunities, or has yet to find the career that best fits them.
