Cristina Paredes is the director of the Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality. Dedicated to building critical alliances and collaborative connections within the community, Cristina works to support a strong business climate and promote Tallahassee-Leon County’s diverse and vibrant economy. She is committed to advancing the regional economy through strategic business expansion and attraction, local business support, and diversity and economic inclusion efforts.
With over 17 years of local government experience across several disciplines, Cristina has devoted the past eight years to economic vitality and diversity in Tallahassee-Leon County. Under her direction, the Office of Economic Vitality has announced five expansion projects which combine to create over 2,900 new jobs, including the Amazon Robotics Fulfillment Center and Danfoss Turbocor. In addition, Cristina and her team also work to promote diversity and economic inclusion efforts and has certified 300 certified minority and women-owned businesses, representing nearly 2,000 employees, to help enhance business opportunities.
Cristina received a Bachelor’s degree and Master of Public Administration from Florida State University and a Certificate in Economic Development from the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute. Cristina earned the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). In addition, Consultant Connects recently named Cristina one of the Top 50 Economic Developers in the nation in 2021.
She and her husband, Marco, have been married for over 12 years and have two boys. Cristina loves to run, a good book and going to baseball games to cheer on the Seminoles. She and her family love exploring, hiking, and camping.
