Sean Lewis comes to the Office of Economic Vitality bringing with him the experience gained over more than three decades of public service with the State of Florida. He has worked in the fields of social services, healthcare policy, community development, economic development, disaster recovery, and broadband development and expansion. He has also been a staffer with the Florida House of Representatives, responsible for legislative bill drafting and transportation and economic development appropriations.
Mr. Lewis has engaged with Florida’s most economically distressed communities, establishing collaborative partnerships, identifying resource matching opportunities, and streamlining administrative processes to facilitate expedited economic development projects.
With a mind for stewardship, Sean has served in leadership roles such as the Coordinator of the Rural Economic Development Initiative, Vice Chair of the State of Florida Council on Homelessness, and as a member of the Florida Interagency Grants Advisory Council, the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Institute on Urban Policy and Commerce, and the national Council of State Community Development Agencies Advisory Group. Mr. Lewis is also the recipient of two Davis Productivity Awards.
Sean supports his local community as well, donating his time, talent, and treasures to Famil Promise of the Big Bend’s efforts throughout Leon County, including HOPE House and Advocates for Veterans Housing Supportive Services for Veteran Families.
Sean holds both a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Master of Applied Social Sciences in Public Management degrees from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
